Description:

Mugdock Country Park offers a central point to many different routes. There is a straightforward walk around the Park, which has a moor, a ruined castle and a loch for swimming. It also offers a central point to explore the Campsie Hills, sections of the West Highland Way and forestry land. You can meet dogs, horses, cattle and sheep in this area. However, if you cut off from the main routes you can find peace and solitude.
The visitor centre is a magnet for Glasgow people looking for a day out and can get very busy but don't be put off - lots of these people don't venture futher than the centre. It's a useful place to start though as there is a shop, café (with outdoor seating) and information centre with lots of leaflets.  There are other car parks at less busy entrances to the Park and all car parks have good orientation maps. Most dogs are walked off the lead and a poop scoop policy operates on or near the main paths.
